or type "clear text passwords" in google and see how much others are tripping over the issue. its the first thing you learn about security. have you ever seen a webmail/credit card service/online banking not using https, or do you think google has a list of peoples login/password stored in clear text or hashed on their servers for people to be able to login?

and I am not paranoid over the issue or are affraid to send my donation number but there is such things as facts.
I was asking how the new addon handled this, because the server is already using https to encrypt the epg data, all it needed was a addon to support a proper login, so the donation number was not needed to be sent as a get request, which is method to login if you dont have other means to support the negotiation, stalker pvr addon would be pretty confused meeting a login box/page, therefore you have to send all the info in the get request, which is clear text and so are all the other places/urls you visit on the net, the content is not necessarily though since 33% of the internet uses https nowadays. its basically about establishing trust between two computers. again I am not trying to argue in anyway, just talk about a very common issue that I am surprised nobody knows anything about.

if someone has access to your computer you are screwed yes every security measure is compromised, and that is usually the way the common man gets hacked.
i'm sorry I brought the topic up here, I should have just made the post on the addon section and hoped dvbken answered. but I get a bit stubborn when you step on my professionel competence on such a simple topic. sorry.

its not about that.. was the bold letters not enough. and nobody will ever target nfps we all know that :).
nothing needs to be hacked. my evil twin could monitor all traffic going to nfps/rocket/iks66 and pick up any get request that matches the wildcard, it would be very hard to get your info coz its not coming down my evil twins route but all the costumers the company he works for is.

but again highly unlikely.. and again the question was not about that and i am not out to say this is risky to use or anything like that.. i am NOT paranoid about it. but apparently some things almost seems not allowed to be talked about.

I am very sorry for ever bringing it up here, it should of cause be asked in the pvr stalker nfps thread.. sorry.

i know what a cleartext password is.. i also know that you think ssl is actually secure.... its not.. has been broken for years.

but my real point here is, start a new thread then if you want to talk about security or other things.. this is a support thread for epg users..

yep i got it re-read my post.. sorry for bringing it up here. but could you also stop please, you are closing the subject with lines like ssl can be hacked and if someone can see your donation you are owned anyway without any argumentation to back it up, and not allowing me to answer what would be needed to do that or how hard it would be contra clear text. you can also crack any program yes, but its a hell of a lot easier if you can open the binary in notepad and find the activation number. there are workarounds to decrypt your https sessions, but it will probably be more trouble than anyone are willing to go to, targeting/hacking anyone or every single client that you dont even know is using these services would be crazy troubling and very illegal, so there is a difference just like the program example i did not modify/circumvent the code, or use a crack, the activation code was provided with the program all i did was read it and there it was in clear text. but lets end it.
like i said i'm sorry for bringing it up here lol i wont answer anymore i promise :)

i'll head out and see if i can help anyone today, coz this is just a waste of your time that i know can be used better.

I was considering moving all the 'security' talk to a different thread, but decided it was too much work. Let's all move forward please, and keep the discussion on getting the guide to work. For the non-techies... don't panic. :)

i wasn't expecting that kinda feedback that lead to discussion of hacking or attacking people and cracking ssl for asking a very simple question..

edit: and yeah to those who dont speak tech gibberish, do what dara says, chill, ignore, and have a beer/cookie/icecream . :)

how about a tabel or something on the OP or epg site describing/displaying which color is which category for the laymen like me to get a head start and/or for reference for rusty brains?
its not a request, dont know how much you guys will go into coloring and stuff heh. just an idea to go with it.

Color is dependant on your skin, so not going to make a legend as it could be different for everyone....really though, theres only a handful of colors.. just go look at the guide and figure out what the colors mean..

There will be colors for

Normal series and shows (likely uncolored in all skins)
game shows/shopping crap
kids shows
sports
movies
educational shows


i think thats it..

The coloring is handled by the epg data itself based on genre wording.. in some cases we massage a few entries so they color correctly.

ok i realize the skin colors are different coz i checked that out, but the skins i tried its not like red is blue.. they are just lighter or darker to match the skin, so at least some skinners stick to confluence standard colors. but then again i only tried 3 skins and there are bound to be a skinner that do everything opposite lol. also i didn't know the coloring was done from wording.

edit btw. explaining those few categories actually helped the understanding a lot believe it or not. :)

i had to get a new mac for my firestick using iptv stalker but i still have no guide no matter how many times i do a reset i have the right info with the hxxp://epg.ninja/NFPSE.xml was working fine for a while until now.???

[1199] B4U PLUS - looks like UAE Stream
[1207] PTV SPORTS - Pakistani Stream (shows just "PTV Sports" in the current EPG)

my epg drifted an hour the last few days, odd thing it seemed not to be when we switched to non dst but as said the last few days, another odd thing is it seemed to drift the wrong way i have to use the dst version of the guide, and we are not in dst but vintertime or whats supposed to be standard time as i am in the northern hemisphere if i understand it correctly. odd, or or am i missing something?

edit ah.. i think i get it, your running on utc which i'm +1 hour to now.
all those timezones and formats whats wrong with geezer time lol

No Guide Entries

I have entered all info below and changed preference to prefer provider but getting No guide entries. What am I doing incorrect?

note: (changed xx's to proper character). My donation is 12 numbers (NFPS)
