Just wondering if the channels that have "no info" on the program guide display
but do have a program and picture show up when selected
will eventually show a program description or is it permanent?
A few examples are: Natgeo Wild, TVland, TNT, Chiller? .. thks

Just using the default EPG because I did not do any thing when I originally set up my Mag.
Are there any directions to follow to set up or change the EPG? thks

didn't know you where using a mag, sorry. there is a custom epg maintained by some kind people here, and then there is a default epg from the provider.
I think the custom epg is better maintained than the default one, unfortunately I also think you can not use it with a mag. :/

It's not exactly a custom EPG they are actually the same.

As has been explained to me in the past, the EPG in Kodi is the exact same for the MAG, but the difference is that even though Rocket pulls from the same file, it must manually link each channel.

So that is why certain channels have no data it's because they haven't been linked correctly yet.

Just thought I'd clear that up :)

if thats true why do we lose epg on same ones that have the info did it change.

You're right. With a few there could be a linking issue, but with most its a bad pull. That's why the information will be there later for most channels with no information. The subsequent pull is successful.

I may have missed something while I was typing earlier because I was on a mobile device.

What was explain to me by blackbear back in early December at the NFPS home site, is that the epg file is separate from the files that regular users use and that it has the same data except they (NFPS/Rocket/IPTV66) want more than 3 days.
He had no idea how often they updated the file from the server and as far as he knows they have to manually link the epg for every channel.

We're about to head into February now so things could have changed since then, but he can tell when NFPS/Rocket/IPTV66 pulls the data for the EPG, so it could be that it didn't pull in time resulting in no EPG, but that is speculation on my part, but that is the explanation I got when I asked if there was a way I could help get MAG/AVOV units to a Full EPG like in Kodi.

exactly what I meant, thanks for elaborating, and explain it in a different fashion. i know they basically use the same and it was maybe a bad way to explain it by custom, all i meant was that (as i said) the kind people here probably maintain it* better, and we have no idea what the provider does.
(*i dont know what to call it but custom epg since you have to set it up manually and its maintained by ppl here, and the other is default, you dont have to set anything up and ppl here have no control over it)

Sooner or later they will all be the exact same lol. I just think they have more important things to tend to at the present moment: Security, Name Changes, Added Channels, Quality Changes and EPG probably falls to the bottom of their list (above is my list). Tomorrow should be an interesting day in the forums.
