According to my system the resolution of the SD channels being tested is actually 1024 x 576. This is better than standard SD which is only 480p.

It would be great if all the SD channels are going to be this resolution although Im not sure how they can do this if the source is only SD quality. Upscaling of signals won't improve them. But if the source they are using is HD and they are downgrading to 576 that would make for great "SD".

On the other hand if they have the HD source wouldnt it make sense to just make it available? Maybe its a bandwidth issue.

For CNN , I believe they are using the HD feed and compressing it. CNN shows excellent when there is little movement on screen, the letters are crisp. When images are changing quickly you get some blurring which is very noticeable.
Can you say how you were able to get the resolution?

I know there are trying to keep the bandwidth requirement low as possible but for me personally I'd prefer if they up the bandwidth a little more to not notice any blurring and maybe better sound.
