New EPG Option -open discussion

Well, that's got me perplexed at the moment. Resetting and deleting the data (as you have), should have remedied the situation. I just checked Viper's guide and it loaded the HD channel information for me. Let me cogitate a bit... Meanwhile, let's see what happens with the next unforced update.

TV29.db is constantly changing (HD channels added + other modifications - additions/deletions of channels) - causing the .chl and .ren files to have to be modified in accordance. Viper - Is there any way you can automate this process so that you don't have to manually tweak these files?
Perhaps looking at the TV29.db file for changes on a daily basis and making the necessary mods to .chl and .ren files so that the guide.xml created created is always up to date with these changes.
This week alone, there have been numerous changes - mostly related to HD changes to channel names.

I think he makes the changes when he has time, like on the weekends. That is why some of the new HD channels are populated, while some of the very newest are not.

It would be nearly impossible to automate the process, since "the process" would have to know in advance what the service channel name is versus the source channel name in order to create both the CHL file and the more daunting REN file.

exactly.

I just updated my channels, they were alot to update.....

ilan is there a way to get the list of the channels with its providers? that way i could load the proper channel list from schedulesdirect.org and get most of the channels populated.
just knowing USA channels are from sky New York for example would help alot.
so:
USA channels from
UK channels from
Canada channels from
latinamerican channels from

There's nothing other than inspecting the channels in the PVR or in the database, so it ends up being a time consuming visual inspection task.

Yes, I agree. It would require a lot more programming to adapt this process. Would need to download the TV29.db file on a daily basis and compare the channel list in that database to the previously downloaded database channel list and make automated modifications to the .ren and .chl lists based on those changes. Then let the rest of the process do its thing.

Thank you for all the hard work viper. I have one request on a channel in your guide. I was wondering if it was possible to get info for 5 star. If I knew how to create my own guide I would do it myself but I dont. That's why I'm requesting. I really appreciate your guide and the work you put into since the other folks jumped ship an discontinued theres. And thank you if I hadn't said it before.
