Lol, it's not so much a matter of memorization it's more a matter of recognition much like noticing a new building on a street - you may not have been in all the buildings on that street but subconsciously you'd recognise a new or newly decorated one if you travel down the street on a regular basis.Wow, ok...
Well, for other like me that dont have the time to memorize 900+ channels, is there an alternative to know about updates?

If you're using the Live TV feature in conjunction with PVR Client & hide the channels you don't need/watch, newly added channels appear on your channel list & guide.
For example I only have 261 channels visible. The channel list tells me this, so tomorrow if six channels have been added it will tell me I have 267 & the new ones will appear at the end of my channel list if they're in the 1000 range, which at the moment almost all newly added channels are. If they're not I'll look in my channel list as I know that new ones have been added/renumbered/renamed & I'd usually find it easy enough to identify them. If I want them I'll keep them visible & if I don't I'll hide them through the Channel Manager.
To use Channel Manager:
System -> TV -> General
Scroll down to & choose Channel Manager
Highlight your unwanted channel
Arrow over to channel options
Click 'Active' (so as blue circle disappears)
Click 'Activate Guide' (so as blue circle disappears)
Arrow back over to highlight another unwanted channel & repeat above
When finished, arrow over to & click 'Apply Changes Now' (apply changes as you go in batches of 25 or 30 in case your mind wanders & you accidently exit without saving)
Click 'OK'
Then go to main Kodi Settings -> TV -> Guide & click to disable 'Hide No Information Labels' (so as blue circle disappears).
As new channels appear you'll notice them showing up in your channel list & if you don't want to watch them do as above to hide them. Note that if you ever clear data from TV general settings you'll have to do it all over again.
Note also that the above is not applicable to the Stalker Video Addon.
