I am looking at my current hardware as a temp solution. I will eventually be getting different hardware and am wondering if I can use the donation on the new hardware instead of the old when the time comes. or even if the current hardware fails

It's absolutely possible to change your mac address, as long as you keep your donation number safe. Follow step 3 in tinieBlax's guide to change your mac address:

Yes you can, but you will have to change the mac address to your new hardware through the iptv service you have
