IKS used a satellite dish and keys or control words.
IPTV doesn't require a dish antenna, only an internet connection to the providers server.
Quality is better with IKS however IPTV has come a long way and is really good depending on the provider.
Also rain storms wont cause signal loss with IPTV

I might be wrong but since we sometimes see the provider logo floating on the screen like DTV I think the signal is originally coming from a dish and is then converted to the internet signal. So if there is a problem where the dish is located that will cause a problem sending the IPTV signal.

I watch Mostly OTA Channels and when there is a Storm, either Rain or Snow, Signal Loss happens...! If the Feeders/Seeders to the Servers experience Signal Loss than the Server relays the Signal Loss...!
