Drama, Horror, Mystery Movie 2016

Directed by: Dan Trachtenberg
Actors: John Goodman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, John Gallagher Jr.

Plot: A young woman wakes up in a basement. It is owned by a man who claims he saved her life after pulling her from her overturned car which violently crashed along the highway. The man states that the world above them is no longer safe and is now a danger zone that threatens the rest of humanity. With no knowledge of what actually lies above and trust running thin between them, the woman questions what's true and what's not. Is the man a delusional psychotic that has a more sinister agenda for her? Or is it really hell on earth above ground like he swears?

My take: It isn't very often that you can go see a movie at the theater but I had a good feeling on this one. Even more rare is when a movie like that delivers a wholly original story that's even more satisfying than I ever thought it would be.

'10 Clover-field Lane' is a perfect reminder that films can still surprise us, delight us, and horrify us in a way that's never been done before. Dan Trachtenberg will be a force to be reckoned with in the future. I can't wait to see what he does next. Of course, J. J. Abrams and Bad Robot help boost this director up.

As far as acting is concerned, Mary Elizabeth Winstead gives a great performance, and shows a strong lead character who's completely believable in a situation that plays out like a horrible nightmare. Speaking of bad dreams, John Goodman turns in a performance unlike anything he's ever done before, and manages to be both strangely sweet and unbearably creepy. if you have seen John Wick he plays a similar type of character and damn he is good at it.

if you like a good suspenseful show with twist of did that just happen give this show a try I am sure you will enjoy every moment!

Grade: 8 out of 10 stars

My future wife Mary Elizabeth Winstead is in it, so it must be good :) I can't wait to watch it. is it in Kodi yet?

They relied too much on the bunker story, with approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes in the bunker story and just 15 minutes if even with the opening sequence included. I was disappointed but hey Mary Elizabeth Winslet made it all better!!

The Twilight Zone had a "somewhat similar" plot in one of its episodes.

From the Stag Blog...

“One More Pallbearer,” season 3, episode 82: air date: January 12, 1962

Another Serling-penned episode, this mostly exists as a character study of an awful man. The setting is a bomb shelter and the stage is set for a would-be practical joke. Millionaire Paul Radin (Joseph Wiseman) invites three people from his past to come to his lair, and has readied a fake Civil Defense warning and a television screen with bomb footage to make them believe that nuclear war is now.

Present are his former highschool teacher, his former military commander, and a reverend, all of whom he has decided wronged him, but we see that only in his arrogant, nasty impression of how things were. Unfortunately for Radin, they all believe his trick, but after unpleasant conversation (the teacher is particularly good and cutting, she’s played by Katherine Squire), each one chooses to leave the shelter instead of begging his pardon, and to let them stay. This is all Radin wanted, but they won’t do it. They face annihilation rather than apologize to him — or rather, they are not interested in living out their days with an awful man in his awful, doomsday kingdom.

They leave, and he yells at their backs, and then rather abruptly he seems to lose his damn mind. The audience is waiting for a twist, and Serling plays with that expectation — maybe a nuke will really happen just at this synchronistic time! Nope. Radin has just snapped. His Twilight Zone fate is to be nuts and to believe he is the only man left after nuclear holocaust. The message here isn’t so much remain civilized in the face of the greatest imaginable horror, but don’t be a dick, otherwise people will let themselves be melted rather than spend time with you; this makes it a bit less satisfying an entry in the nuclear terrors Twilight Zone canon.

Ultimately, Bolstered by an intriguing premise, brilliant performances and ever changing storyline, 10 Cloverfield Lane never becomes boring and never fails to intrigue, and is arguably one of the best Sci-Fi films of the last few years.
