yes i do
Hi guys,

As TVOnline 4 is my first experience in the world of IPTV, I was waiting for an android device like my android tablet or phone with an AVOV's special launcher or middleware, but I didn't find Google play store or any way to install android apps (or apk file), so my question is :

Is there any way to install an android app directly or using an apk file ?

Thank you.

Thank you @Laser for your answer but it's not working for me because there is no "settings" > "applications" or "app manager" in TVOnline 4 to get the ability to install any app from external storage.

The app manager exists, but accessing it requires going through a 'backdoor' method, like using Kodi to access the android applications list. Saying that, I did try to install SPMC using a downloaded .apk using the app manager, but it didn't work for me. It may mean that the android OS only will allow installs from the market only. Then again, it may be that the SPMC wasn't good for Android 5 or set up properly to load that way.

I have SPMC installed and working(I feel) better than Kodi on my Sony/Android TV running 5.1.1. But I was able to download it directly from Google Play store.
SPMC would be a good app to add to the Avov market.

I agree with that... SPMC seems better than Kodi on Android, and does allow you to have Kodi and SPMC on the same box

i talked to them about adding that a week ago will ask them again and you cant on tvonline 4 for now and i said just for now but i think you can on fuse has a box you can add what you want but have not tried it

Hey Guys
In a similar boat, way around it is through Kodi. Install and run Kodi, go to Programs > Android apps > Settings > Apps > pick App installer > Open > Choose Local or USB > choose APK and your good.

I can get this far, but the package installer does nothing once I choose netflix V 4.5.2 for example. I tried a few other APK's which I know work on stock android boxes, but i think the package installer does not allow third party side loads unless they are on the marketplace?

I tried the file explorer as well, same deal. (on Wifi)

You guys having this same issue?

Thank you @dara for the tip of kodi, that was what I'm looking for.

I succeeded to install apps that I need.
I tried for some hours to install Google play store (with Google play services) but with no luck, it's always blocking on loading ... I think that I should install some others services or apps, I don't know ...

@ecko665 I didn't find any problem to install my apps (except for Google play store), don't forget to turn app verification off in security settings ...

@z750, good to see you got some apk's through.

I verified under Personal > Security and Restrictions > Unknown sources was <ON>, and Verify Apps was <off> by default

Still no go, I can see the APK, but once clicked the pack installer bar graphs just stay grayed out, same on the other box I have.

I know to install google play it needs some other dependencies( can't remember which ones) and they have to loaded in a certain order to work properly.

That would be a good app to add to market. Also ES file explorer is easy to download and install apk's.

@rudawgg Here is what I did to install some apks in my AVOV TVOnline 4 :

1 - Download the apk of the app that you need from the internet (you can do that directly via the browser or using your PC and a USB drive or memory card, ...), there is a lot of websites to get that or you can copy it from any rooted android device.

2 - After installing kodi, run it, go to "Programs" >> "Android apps" (here you will get all the installed apps in your box) >> "Settings" (here you will get the settings window of android), then "Security and restrictions" then turn "unknown sources" to "on", and "verify apps" and "restricted profile" to "off".

3 - Then back to kodi >> "Programs" >> "Android apps" but this time go to "AppInstaller" (the app which we will use to install apks), then select your source (local disk, memory card, usb drive), the app will search all available apks, then you have just to pick (check it at the right, don't click) the one that you want to install and on the menu at the top right, click "install".

That's all.

@ecko665 You have just to do the 3rd step (check then "install", no click).

@z750, virtual high five thx for the assist.

They install know, I can see the programs in kodi <android apps>, but I guess there is no way to get an icon of the program on the main page under <My Apps>?

Thx
