TUF 22 tryouts announced for LW, WW prospects

After 10 years in the game, The Ultimate Fighter continues to march on. Tryouts for the twenty-second American season of UFC's flagship reality show are slated to be held on Sunday, March 29 at the Palace Station in Las Vegas, NV, the UFC announced Wednesday.

Male fighters competing in both the lightweight and welterweight divisions are welcome to attend. All applicants must be between the ages of 21 and 34, and are required to hold a winning record with a minimum of three verifiable professional fights.

Filming for TUF 22 is scheduled to begin sometime in May. The show is expected debut this September on FOX Sports 1.

Past seasons of The Ultimate Fighter have spawned numerous UFC champions and title challengers, most recently including T.J. Dillashaw, Carla Esparza and John Dodson.

Two new iterations of the show are already in production. TUF 21: American Top Team vs. Blackzilians is set to debut on April 21 and, for the first time, will pit two of the country's top mixed martial gyms against one another in dramatic departure from the series' traditional format.

TUF Latin America 2, featuring coaches of Mexican descent Kelvin Gastelum and Efrain Escudero, is also slated to begin filming this month and will debut in Latin American markets and on UFC Fight Pass in August.

Coaches for TUF 22, and whether the show expects to return to its regular format, are at this point unannounced.
