Not the first time.
The gas is Chlorine gas which is heavy and tends to find the low places. Places were the citizens were hiding, like their basements. That gas drove them out.
The gas was used a time or two before as well.
There were 59 Tomahawk missiles launched against a Syrian air-force base back in 2017 (which was believed to be the launch point of the gas-attacks).
This time it was 3 sites and with two other countries involved (Britain and France)and some 100 Tomahawks, with naval and air attacks.

Dunford Jr., chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said the U.S. military, in conjunction with British and French forces, struck three sites — a scientific research center near Damascus, a chemical weapons storage facility near Homs and a storage facility and command post also near Homs'
The news and media these days is a mess.. I try not reading some of the main stream stuff..
but The Washington Post I do read... after-all, they did a good job covering the WaterGate scandal
.... and the things that came after, like questions about celebrity journalism and the use of anonymous sources and etc....
