I went through my old satellite websites bookmarks to clean out the sites that are gone. I must have trashed some 30 sites that no longer exist. Sites like Al7bar and DSSCommunity are no longer relevant to our hobby. Sites that used to help us with Dave and Charlie or my old Dreambox are long gone.

Lots of good memories and TV, not to mention frustration. Sites that taught us how to program or how to use emulators or what kind of new STBs to buy. If your like me you have a closet full of old STBs and useless sat stuff.

I regularly go to a great thrift shop and every so often I'll see an old sat receiver for sale and I know that things going to be there for a looonnnnggg time.

Lets face it, the future is IPTV.

It most definitely has been a long time since then. The evolution of h,hu,avr3,atmega,rom3,rom10,rom101 and then FTA. IPTV is totally the best bet. I still have boxes of old IRD's, jtag's and ISO readers. I do wonder these days of what some of the old "testers" are up to from dss-newbies and hashhu etc. Too many hours spent writing code with them.

My view is that IPTV will be like the old Sat boxes. I am already hearing of app in KODI deleting them self or KODI is. Who knows! Maybe older versions of KODI are best to keep, not V16 or V17 or higher!

There will always be new sources of free TV. Right now I get most of my viewing from sources other than my Sat or Mag254. I've been watching the Olympics via NBC in HD in the eastern time zone and I live in the west. Like always you need to do your homework and be on top of changes.

My closet is also filled with a ton of the old Dave and Charlie's useless toys. Anyone want to buy a couple of nice stripped down cheap PCs? I can't sell them to you cheap and there perfect for emulation?

Remember, what goes around comes around! :)
