With cases on a steady incline, Japan declared a new COVID-19 state of emergency that will continue through the Summer Olympics, making it likely the organizers will do away with plans to allow spectators.

This is likely to force Olympics organizers to do away with plans for limited attendance at the Games held in Tokyo. Representatives of the International Olympic Committee and the Japanese government are set to discuss the issue on Thursday.

Last month, organizers said attendance would be capped at half capacity, or a maximum 10,000 people. Foreign spectators were ruled out in March.

The Games begin on July 23 and end on August 8.

When it was announced that Japan would go forward with the Olympics I was rather happy about that... but then they said only citizens of Japan could attend the events (or enter the country for that matter), that suxs big time for Olympian enthusiasts from around the world.
I at that time was confused at weather to continue to be an Olympics fan, or what to think.
And now there is a high possibility that there will be no spectators at all, at any of the events.
Quite honestly, I no longer care.
But I am saddened for the athletes thou and the Olympics itself.

Yep, it Stinks that No One will bee Allowed except for the Citizens of Japan...!!! Those Athletes want to Preform in Front of Family and Friends...!! but, But, BUTT, the lack of Spectators is for the Protection of those Athletes...!

I got to where I just watched the Gymnastics as that was what I did back in school in the 50-60's...!!!

Seems that the Citizens of Japan may not even be allowed.
They will make a discussion on that this coming week.

I can not understand how these Olympics can even be held like this.
The huge amount of monies involved can not possibly be returned for profit or even break even now that the city is shut down. More realistic is that it will be a lose.
