Yes
I currently have Minix Neo X7 from 2013 and recently purchased Amazon Fire TV 2 however they both have issues. In fact all Android boxes are imperfect due to hardware limitation or software not compatible. The closest box to perfect is WeTek Core but no HD audio.

After a lengthy research it seems like Raspberry Pi 2(Pi 3 looks even better) running openelec for a media center is the best way to go.

Am I right?

It's the best for Live TV on Kodi (which I prefer over STB emulator) because of hardware acceleration.

Personal media with 5.1/7.1 works even HD audio.

I'm shocked! Because it cost so little.

It might help to know what incompatibility issues you are talking about. The only incompatibility that I know of is that the Fire TV has an issue with the HW acceleration if you want to use stalker so you have to use software instead. If your primary goal is to watch stalker, then that should not be an issue as your not getting HD on most channels and your not getting 5.1 DD. I have two Fire TVs 1st Gen and 2nd Gen and have no issues with them.

The picture quality is not the same. Than running hardware acceleration.
