Sorry I know this has been asked before but couldn't find the thread.

Kodi has PVR add on and people keep asking me about adding PVR to mag boxes. Last I heard this wasn't an option.

If not is there any box that has PVR?

This is my favorite topic i.e. gripe.

First thing I did when I got my box up and running was to attach the USB stick I had previously used on my satellite box. The MAG saw the stick and properly reported information about it. Great. Next I selected the normal channel I record, a news channel. This is when I slowly realized that the recording was NEVER going to work. I ran through every menu. I read every thread. I tried and tried and gradually (I'm not the fastest brain on the block) came to appreciate that all references in the MAG box to recording are completely bogus. The controller even has it's own button for recording. When it comes to simple recording this MAG254 is a scam. For goodness sake cable TV boxes are offering multiple simultaneous channel recording and this MAG won't even record one.

If recording is your thing do NOT buy this box. BTW, other than the extrmely dissapointing recording issue I like this IPTV box.

the recording function in IPTV is controlled by the provider, it has nothing to do with your box. Some reading would have told you this and there are security reasons for the service not allowing the recording function, thks...

My reading did tell me this but I don't accept it as a reasonable response. Security reasons! Do me a favor.

We buy the box to get the service. It's immaterial who is the cause. The fact is I went from my satellite to this box and the principal change is that I can no longer record. I made the change knowing that IPTV is the future and decided why not do it now. Had I been aware in advance that recording was not possible with this box/provider I would have held off and continued my investigation into whats is available with this important feature.

The lack of recording ability should be in a sticky so that someone researching the various options for IPTV could make a real informed decision and not find out after the fact that recording is not possible ON THIS BOX or WITH THIS PROVIDER. Actually I am completely confused about this "provider" tale. My satellite had the same provider with recording. I suspect that this is a made up story to appease the great unwashed.

This site is the goto for IPTV info. The missing recording ability is an important aspect and, in my opinion, should be front and center in any analysis or information thread. The number of posts asking about recording or PVR howto is surely testimony to what I am saying.

You didn't do your research before buying the box that as nothing to do with the site or any one but you. Before i got in to iptv i checked all i needed to know about it or any thing i'm getting in two first. You won't jump in a pool before checking if there's water in it now would you.

There is something sadly wrong with the typical responses on this site. People come here to learn from "experts". Too often the common response is some sort of put down. Look how smart I am and how stupid you are. If only you had done your homework you wouldn't be in the mess you're in.

It's unfortunate and nowhere near the quality help found on FTABETA which is a sister site and referred my IPTV questions here for the knowledgeable assistance I might require. I have found information of value here. I have also seen responses to posts, not necessarily my own, that are unhelpful and elitist. Is this a support community or a place for those who really know the "secret" things to keep them to themselves to show their superiority?

Finally how dare you make the assumption that I did not do my due diligence. As I have stated elsewhere this box comes with recording feature in both the software and on the remote. My satellite FROM THE SAME PROVIDER as far as I am aware gave me recording capabilities which I used on a daily basis. How in heaven's name is anyone to know that this box won't record regardless of who or what is to blame. BTW, when I purchased the box the trial period was still underway and many questions were answered with "it's in the trial period and some kinks need to be worked out be patient." Nowhere, whether here or anywhere else on the web, was there information stating that recording the capabilities of the device would be unusable.

I think, if you do your due diligence, you will find numerous posts here asking about recording or PVR. Are they all losers for not meeting your high standards of investigation? Provide help if you can. I trust this is not facebook where we just spout off to feel good.
