i have recently got a t1 box and was expecting a much better performance compared to my M8 with a Amlogic 802 running librelec OS.
running a kodi addon with 4K content i changed the android display setting to 2160x30 to enable UHD reolution to my TV. Some movies played fine, they were h.264 3840x1600 at 30 and 24.976 framerates, some just stuttered. Any 3840 x 2160 dont work. For example, "The Grand Tour" would only play audio. If i deselected the hardware acceleration codecs on the T1 i would actually now get some video but completely unwatchable ( stuttering etc).
So it seems the hardware video decoding on the T1 box is quite weak. My M8 ( a much cheaper and older box) can play the 3840 x 2160 "grand tour" perfectly except it has a gui overlay still present in a quarter of the display. This may be a Libreelec problem, so i will step back to Openelc and then android to see if i can get proper playback.
For completeness, i have a Samsung ks7000 tv and using its inbuilt netflix/youtube can play any 4k hdr content.
