Hi Guys
I seem to be having issues with buffering and freezing (not on the server here as for what ever reason and what ever I do, like some others, it wont load. Anyway that's a different story!).
I have two different servers in the portals, I also have BOTH BT business BB and also Virgin 50mb installed, both hard wired and can use either easily.
It appears that after viewing for half an hour or so (BT or Virgin) I am suffering from "throttling" with either broadband service. After much reading and in communication with both server providers, they suggested I try connecting via a vpn, now I am aware hat this "may" cause speed restrictions to a degree but with the virgin 50mb (or up to) I figured this would be ok?
Anyway I have purchased a VPN (only a couple of quid) and installed it via my pc, that works fine as I can access pirate bay etc straight from my browser, what I am struggling with is how do I configure my virgin router to connect via a vpn?
Again after reading up it appears that providers are using monitoring software that can distinguish between "normal surfing" email, websites social media etc.... and heavy use applications such as streaming via HD and can restrict band use on the same line for different types of usage at the same time.
The virtual private network provider cant (or wont) offer support for this...
I have heard about "tomato" for routers but would rather take the advice of someone in the know on here before messing with something I don't know much about...
regards
Lanky
