m3u8 file videos say missing on mag 254

Your last thread showed that the channel was working, we did not know you were using the mag254 device thou.
The channel is still working now on both buzzTV and T3 devices.
Must be that mag device is the issue with this.

Have you tried connecting with the device's MAC method, instead of the Playlist method ?

connected the mag254 and with MAC attached, that channel is working.

I need more time to check the Playlist m3u thru the Mag254 thou ... I gotta leave the building for awhile.

greetings to all
as crazed 9.6 said in mag using the portal works very well.
For list if you need to use only the m3u8 list make sure you are using exoplayer as the default player, since I looked at the list and that ch is in (hls) and the ijk player doesn't adapt to the link format

P.S only as a recommendation in the future and when you can $$ you should make an update to your streaming system since the mag254 is a bit obsolete with the changes in the format of links that are coming out every day

The mag device is not an Android box/device.
It is a Linux box, the user does not have the option to load other Players.
It is uniquely obsolete :eek:

Nice information guys, so im pretty much out of luck with this box with m3u8 streaming I take it. What box do you recommend that is a lot like the mag254. The mag254 is easy to use, pretty much took care of itself.

To be honest, as of now the best box that we support here on site for using m3u or m3u8 streaming or m3u Playlist URLs is probably the Dreamlink T3
I hate to count out the BuzzTV devices but they do not do as well when it comes to m3u playback functionalities.
That Dreamlink T3 does everything well when it comes to m3u or m3u8 playback and has features that no other box has when it comes to m3u Playlist playback functionality and their server access multiple methods (except the Formuler Z8, as they are the same box as the T3 but with different names).

Check the T3 Sticky threads.

You would not go terribly wrong with a BuzzTV purchase either concering m3u functions, but you'd have to get the right model.
They do okay with m3u Playback function but there are differences and not all BuzzTV models/devices are trouble free when it comes directly involved with m3u Playlist or Playlist URL function.

How about this :

Load a previously created list from a USB drive or via SMB / NFS
>Open file format *.m3u from a USB drive or from the available network resources (USB-storages «mount» automatically in «Media Browser» or «Home Media», Local Area Net resources are available in SMB-browser-«SAMBA» in «Media Browser» or«Home Media»);
>When you open the answer to the question about the encoding of the file;
>Save the list of channels;
>If you refuse to save the channel list, you can select the channels (F3 button on remote or“menu” - “Select All”) and add them to the“IPTV Channels” - “menu” - “Copy” - “TV”button on remote - “menu” - “Paste”

File Format: m3u, UTF-8 encoding (recommended)

The 254 does have a "Browser" doesn't it...?!? :confused:

No Browser per say, its not an Android... but does have portals to its menus and applications.
There is an Inner and an Outer Portal. It's a Linux box true and true, just like running a Linux on a PC, except less functions or options :)
The Inner is when you have an active server connection and that 'Inner' and its menu options is available (LiveTV and VOD and system settings and configurations)
The Outer is when you can't get in the Inner but can access system settings :)
This does depend too thou weather a storage device is connected and with m3u content onboard and accessible.
It's confusing to think about but does work as explained... Just know that you can't get in the Inner unless you access the Outer or something like that ... lol

Maybee the OP would like the 254 w1 STB... If They insist on MAG's...?!? :confused:

"Home Media App. This app lets you connect to the content storage in your computer and play it in your TV. MAG254 w1 can play a great variety of video formats. It basically plays any video format so you can watch any multimedia content that you wish without worrying about compatibility issues. Images will play in up to 1080p resolution, and both the picture and the sound will be sharp.

YouTube Client. The MAG 254 w1 has a standard YouTube client App, so you can play all your favorite YouTube videos and watch it through your television as well.

Internet Browser. This is a good feature because it allows you to play any content from the internet on the TV. You can do shopping, Facebook, connect to your favorite stream and watch it on your TV.

Settings. The Settings app lets you set up the usual settings such as the time zone, internet connection, and IPTV portals.
MAG 254 w1"...?!? Just a Thought...!!!
