Hi all,

I have had IPTV for about 1/2 a year. It worked at some points well, but over the last few months I get a lot of lag, break in shows and movies. I have very fast internet service in my home. I am guessing I need to have a server closer to my SoCal home? Is there any advice on which server I should target for SoCal?

All advice is welcomed.

Thanks,

Well it could be a lot of things. I would start and making sure that you are hard wired if not already and if so that you use pre-made cat5. If you make your own and do it wrong you can get cross talk and cause issues. Check your router and if you have QOS enabled, try disabling it or make the device that run your video stuff a high priority. If you use torrent software, make sure it is not configured wide open and that you limit the upload speed to a minimum. High upload bandwidth will kill your download. Make sure your router software is up to date. Also make sure that your ISP does not do bandwidth throttling. When you have issues, check you ping times to the server. If they are too great, this will cause issue. Do a trace route to see where the bottleneck may be.
