Hi Guys and Girls,
I am a Brit currently working and living in Thailand. Fairly tech savvy but new to the IPTV world so thought I would join this forum to try and get me on the right track.
Ok where to start.
I am with a ISP called 'True', they are pretty shocking but not a lot of choice out here really. Cable broadband package only 15Mbs / 1 Mbps connection and no TV package.
I have an ASUS AC88U router that the ISP provided router is bridged to. My Asus router has a custom Merlin firmware which seems to have some decent VPN and VLAN settings, although as of yet not used.
Any advice / pointers on the following would be great:
So next is the hardware requirements. At present I have a fairly decent LAN setup with a HP N54L Microserver that is running Plex over my Gigabit LAN to a Samsung Smart TV. I also have a fairly old now eMachine Nettop next to the HDTV, mainly as my wife uses a 'Expat' IPTV package called Thai Expat Tv, however this uses a fairly nasty interface and just runs as a program on the computer. It does however have 7 days of UK TV on demand.
Questions:
Sorry if this is a lot of questions but I am a bit lost as to where to start in terms of software, hardware and services.
Cheers

Any advice / pointers on the following would be great:
- Looking for a good IPTV package that will allow me to watch a range of channels and if possible video on demand services? (BBC iPlayer etc)
- If I had access to pay per view events such as: UFC, Boxing etc that would be amazing
- Looking for services with decent resolutions and stable connections that have minimal lag / stutter
- Is it possible to get Sky Subscription channels?

Questions:
- Is it possible to have and IPTV app (Kodi?) on the HDTV and not need a set top box, using the TV remote?
- Am I right in thinking I should only look at OTT services as only my ISP can use VLAN settings on my router?
- What is the best hardware to use for an IPTV package? Mag254 or Amazon Fire TV?
- Any limitations of either above?
- With so many IPTV packages out there, which is the best in terms of features, price, reliability and quality?
- Do any IPTV services offer Video on Demand (BBC iPlayer style)?
Sorry if this is a lot of questions but I am a bit lost as to where to start in terms of software, hardware and services.
