I know, was the same but I am on Android and STB emulator and it was working last night and this morning and now back to the good old status quo ....

Because posts are like bread the very next day they become stale.

I think most frequent users use the 'new posts' function to a certain degree so even if you update your old posts they will be seen and on the top of the list.
the new thread count will be smaller and your original post will be even easier to see when updated.
