Apple will scan U.S. iPhones for images of child abuse

C/P
Apple unveiled plans to scan U.S. iPhones for images of child sexual abuse, drawing applause from child protection groups but raising concern among some security researchers that the system could be misused, including by governments looking to surveil their citizens.

The tool designed to detected known images of child sexual abuse, called "neuralMatch," will scan images before they are uploaded to iCloud. If it finds a match, the image will be reviewed by a human. If child pornography is confirmed, the user's account will be disabled and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children notified.

Separately, Apple plans to scan users' encrypted messages for sexually explicit content as a child safety measure, which also alarmed privacy advocates.

The detection system will only flag images that are already in the center's database of known child pornography. Parents snapping innocent photos of a child in the bath for example, presumably need not worry. But researchers say the matching tool — which doesn't "see" such images, just mathematical "fingerprints" that represent them — could be put to more nefarious purposes.

More than 90 groups worldwide have joined together to raise concerns about the plan.

Edward Snowden himself said that Apple no matter how good their intentions may be (said with sarcasm), they are creating a surveillance system that will have trillions of devices at it's disposal and accessed at will
iNarc is what he called it.
He also said it is scanning for elicit material today, but tomorrow it will be scanning for anything that big tech or the government deems in-appropriate.
I otherwords, if you happen to text something to a friend thinking it is a private conversation (which it is not), and the government does not agree with it, ummm will there be a knock on your door and a group of men dressed in Ice-Cream Suits and armed with assault weapons waiting on the other side ?

This is scary, very scary stuff here:(

With how things are in the world today and how tied in big tech is with our corrupt governments, this invasion from Apple is something we all should be very worried about.
Look at this way. I think we can say that every person on this planet is against crimes to children. A parent for instance will do anything in their power to keep their children save, and it may be fair to say even a non-parent would do the same.
So what better way to attack and invade your security and privacy then to package as a needed technology to keep your children safe.

Kinda like how we allowed Home Security to invade our civil rights because it was for our safety ... I would laugh out loud at that , but there is no laugh in me concerning any of this

We are not in Kansas anymore Todo
