yes
From using KODI 15 UP 16RC3 I have always altered XML Settings using maintenance tool system tweaks create advance xml file.
HOWEVER the settings i use,<advancedsettings>
<network>
<buffermode>1</buffermode>
<cachemembuffersize>157286400</cachemembuffersize>
<readbufferfactor>20</readbufferfactor>
</network>
<splash>false</splash>
</advancedsettings>

That's using Latest MIxxX Android Box 2GB ROM/OR Windows 8GB ROM With 100mb internet, I spent a lot of time on you tube trying different settings and the above works spot ON/ its not ADVISED for less than 2GB ROM or slower than 30MB speed.

I would strongly advice if you attempt to change xml that when it gives the option to back up original xml file you DO SO.

funny that setting does not do anything for pvr live tv 150MB is 450MB in ram (you have to multiply the setting by 3 to get the actual amount in ram not rom) anyway total overkill imho it takes away resources from the kodi app and could result in very weird things. it also only works for fixed streaming like movies in video addons, you should try psycon's advancedsettins.xml file it has much more reasonable values and settings for the pvr cache too. instead of blindly following youtube videos

from the kodi wiki: "Note: For the memory size set here, Kodi will require 3x the amount of RAM to be free. Setting this too high might cause Kodi to crash if it can't get enough RAM" this will not happen at once but slowly as the buffer fills. a as said not with pvr live tv since it skips this buffer, but video addons.

but if you feel it works better i will not stand in the way, just advising that psycon already made a file that is suitable.
