Royal Birkdale Golf Course, Southport, England

Whoever ends up lifting the iconic Claret Jug come Sunday evening, will receive $1,845,000 - with the runner up getting just over $1million.
The Open Championship is the second-richest golf tournament in the world at the moment, behind only the U.S. Open, which had a $12 million purse this year.

Round One
Jordan Spieth, Brooks Koepka, and Matt Kuchar—share the lead at -5
-Koepka is the defending U.S. Open champion
-Spieth is trying to regain the magic in his Royal Birkdale debut.
-Kuchar remains the Nicest Player Never To Win A Major.

It’s been three years since Rory McIlroy hoisted one of the big trophies. From the jump, he appeared lost, bogeying five of the first six holes. But he settled down and birdied four of the final seven holes to finish the day at one over.

Round Two
-Jordan Spieth -6
-Matt Kuchar -4
-Brooks Koepka -3

Rory is on the leader board in 6th place :)

Brandon Grace is in the history books with a 18 hole round at a major and a score of 62
No one in a major has ever shot better then 63

Jordon Speith is still out front after Saturdays Round 3 ... at -11
Matt Kuchar in second place at -8

-Spieth now enters Sunday with a chance to become the second-youngest player, after Jack Nicklaus, to win the first three legs of the career Grand Slam. Can he do it? The wise money would bet on it.
-Rory McIlroy teased us with the idea of a Sunday showdown with Spieth, and once again, McIlroy spit the bit and won’t be anywhere near the final group on Sunday. McIlroy ran off three straight birdies and got to within two strokes of Spieth, but then went three-over in the four holes around the turn, including a bunker-induced double bogey at the 10th, and that was that for McIlroy’s hopes for a first major since 2014.

Looks like the weather tomorrow (Sunday) will worsen at about the same time that the leaders will be teeing off.
If the guys like Dustin Johnson who may miss most of the bad weather and if he or others get a good round in before that weather hits then they might get a chance to catch Speith.
But maybe need to break Brandons score of 62 to do it thou :)

:)

I missed all the live action and had to catch the replys once I arrived home from work.
Not this Sunday thou :)

I was up at 5 am (mountain time) in anticipation for the final round (first tee off was at 4 am ET)

On the second hole Kuch, almost made an eagle from a 100 yds out or so... this is gonna be a great round !!

ohhh oh
Speith is struggling.
With 3 bogies in the first 4 holes, Speith and Kuch are tied at -8

Rory shoots a one under par on his first nine out, to get to -3

Li is in the Clubhouse with a score of 63 for todays round. He could win this Open if the leaders mess up (but unlikely).
He currently sits in third at -6

added...
at the 6th hole which is said to be the hardest hole in all of golf, Speith comes out with a par and Kuch records a bogey.
Them bunkers will eat you up :(

after a birdie at 5 .... Speith -9
after a bogey at 6 ... Kuch -7

Rory after the 10th, with 8 Pars and two Birdies gets him in to 4th place, 2 strokes back of Li
Brandon Grace after a birdie at the 10th, is now currently tied at 4th @ 4 under.

-wind is at 18 to 25 mph and getting stronger!

Kuch Birdies the 7th
Speith Bogeys the 9th

And it is raining now too.

Speith is at +3 for the day so far, with 5 bogeys

Definetely watching today!!

did you see Rory lost his ball, and they never did find it and he had to play another ball.
He lost a stroke for that :(

Speith shot way right and almost lost his ball too. This next shot now will need some magic to get outta this one
Big trouble at the 13th for Speith.
Calls it an unplayable ball and takes a drop, which sets him back even further from the hole.

While Rory shoots an Eagle after that last hole where he lost his ball, to get to -5 !!!
Rory now needs a birdie on the 18th to match Li into the Clubhouse !

So Kuch takes the sole lead... but at the 14th Speith tees er up and comes within an inch of a hole in one !!
He aint done yet !

a Birdie and an Eagle later, Speith regains the lead by one stroke.
And another Birdie for Speith @ the 16th

Speith wins the Open Championship Major Tournament !
He came in with a birdie, eagle, birdie, birdie.

Kuch held in there but he needed all he had and more, to stay with Speith at the end there

I thought Speith was done when he hit that shot well off the course on the 13th, but he only had a bogey. I couldn't watch the rest, but saw that he charged hard at the end.
